About the Opportunity
This position is offered through the Canada Summer Jobs program and is a great opportunity for students or youth looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional, team-based environment.
You will assist in writing and editing internal communications such as staff emails, Teams posts, speaking notes, and newsletters, as well as supporting content distribution and calendar management. The role also includes updating website content, supporting team administration tasks (such as file organization, meeting coordination, and minute-taking), and assisting with basic finance and intake processes.
This role offers valuable, practical experience for those interested in internal communications, or administrative careers.
As per Canada Summer Jobs program requirements, candidates must be:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at start of employment
- A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work according to BC legislation and regulation.
- International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
Job Duties
- Write and edit internal communications, including staff emails, Teams posts, and speaking notes
- Compile content and prepare internal communications newsletters for distribution
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining the internal communications calendar
- Update and manage content on the MNBC website
- Provide administrative support (organizing files, monitoring intake forms, scheduling meetings, taking minutes, and processing invoices)
- Use Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, SharePoint, etc.)
- Support coordination using project management tools such as Asana, Monday.com, or similar platforms
- Work with content management systems such as WordPress to update and publish web content
- Use and adapt to various technologies (e.g., Word, Excel, databases, and other software)
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Collaborate effectively in an office and team environment (experience considered an asset)
Education
- In pursue of or holding College diploma/University degree in related field
