Position Summary:
The WNBA Communications team is seeking a highly organized and collaborative communications professional to support league-wide media operations and event execution across marquee events, including WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game, WNBA All-Star and the WNBA Finals. This role will assist with on-site communications logistics, staffing coordination, media operations, and cross-functional event support.
Major Responsibilities:
WNBA League Tentpole Events
• Support communications operations and logistics for major league events, including WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game, WNBA All-Star and the WNBA Finals
• Serve as a key on-site liaison from a league PR perspective, helping coordinate media operations and event execution
• Assist with staffing coordination, event coverage assignments, and overall on-site communications support
• Partner with venue, event operations, and team PR representatives on media setup, staffing, credentialing, and operational needs
• Help manage media availability logistics, interview circuits, and last-minute scheduling updates on-site
• Support media day operations, including coordination of interview schedules and internal assets
• Assist with preparation and distribution of staff information, media operations materials, and event communications documents
• Collaborate with league event leads to ensure smooth execution of communications initiatives throughout tentpole events
General Responsibilities
• Coordinate with the social media team on league announcements and integrated communications efforts
• Support collaboration with marketing partnerships teams on messaging and activation plans
• Assist with broader league communications initiatives, media operations planning, and special projects as needed
Required Education/Professional Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Previous related experience supporting PR or event operations
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
• Strong organizational and communication skills with an interest in sports communications, PR, or event operations
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in fast-paced environments
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments and external stakeholders
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities
• Flexibility to travel and work nights and weekends during league events and postseason periods
Salary Range:
$85,000 - $90,000
