Main Responsibilities
Strategic Role
- Contribute to the implementation of HCT’s system-wide strategy.
- Assist with the development and preservation of system-wide and Faculty/Division-specific policies.
- Participate in the academic and extra-curricular events at the College and within the community.
- Engage in applied research relevant to the Division’s interest and the national innovation agenda and its targeted priority sectors.
Operational Role
Teaching
- Use a practical, applied approach and teach courses that are in line with course syllabus and program goals to meet the needs and aspirations of the students and the community.
- Develop and utilize various educational technology resources to ensure that effective and innovative instruction methodologies are employed.
- Apply strategies to ensure that effective student learning is achieved within a second-language environment, providing continuous feedback on student progress through a variety of assessment tools, including tests, projects, assignments and other evaluation instruments.
- Take a student-centered approach, providing students with individual assistance, and dealing promptly with student issues by liaising directly with the student, program supervisor and other College personnel as required.
Assessment
- Apply strategies to ensure effective student learning, provide continuous feedback and monitor student progress and take action to support student success.
- Evaluate students and timely update grades.
- Contribute to question banks and/or coursework assessments as requested.

Advising
- Serve as student advisor as assigned.
- Provide recommendations on at-risk action plans as required.
- Support and mentor students during internships and work placements.
- Maintain regular office hours to advise and assist students.

Research
- Conduct applied research relevant to the faculty’s interests and the national innovation agenda and its targeted priority sectors.
- Participate in conferences and mentor student research.
- Serve on Faculty, program, campus, and/or system-wide committees.
- Serve as a sponsor of or adviser to student groups and activities.
- Serve the industry, community and region.
Service
- Serve on Faculty, program, campus, and/or system-wide committees.

Administrative
- Ensure that teaching facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained in good working order, if applicable.
- Prepare electronic Course Assessment Files (eCAF) and Course Assessment Reports (CAR) for the taught courses.
- Handle at least one system-wide course management in terms of content management, assessment development, course evaluation and review.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching, learning, assessment and quality assurance as per the HCT Program Continuous Improvement Framework.
- Participate in the revision of courses and curricula.
- Invigilate both internal and externally administered assessments as assigned.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Leadership Role
- Coach and mentor subordinates on a regular basis.
- Contribute in an effective and efficient manner to the recruitment and development of UAE Nationals.
- Support with the realization of Organizational Resilience by promoting and communicating the resilience practices and procedures; Guide and assist to build approaches to identify and cultivate high quality organizational resilience leaders, individual contributors, and teams.
Workload
- Full-time faculty shall complete a minimum of thirty-six and half (36.5) working hours per week. The workdays in a week are normally Monday to Friday with a few system-wide assignments on Saturdays (e.g. FWA exams/MOE exams).
- Generally, the workload for faculty is 15 credit hours for the Fall semester, 15 credit hours for the Spring semester
Standards of Professional and Cultural Norms
- All Faculty and administrators should be aware of the HCT Teaching and Learning philosophy.
- Student learning outcomes must align with accrediting agency standards, where applicable.
- Faculty are responsible for explaining and ensuring that students understand the HCT definition of academic dishonesty and the types of behavior that will be considered academic misconduct.
- Faculty must be certain that the students understand the disciplinary measures and consequences of academic misbehavior.
- Faculty must ensure that the teaching/learning environment is sensitive to the cultural heritage of HCT students.
- Faculty must recognize that students are the very embodiment of the HCT's institutional mission.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is required where applicable.
- Or Master's Degree and a professional certification relevant to the discipline with 5 years of teaching and industry experience.
- Or Bachelor's Degree may also be considered for candidates with extensive industry experience and industry certification as per the discipline requirement.
- Appropriate academic professional qualifications as required.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in the relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience is preferred.
- Experience in developing course curriculum as per accreditation and international standards.
- Experience incorporating Educational Technology in curriculum and instructional strategies.
