Our Corporate Affairs team is seeking to temporarily appoint a Communications Officer to contribute to strategic communications and engagement across key initiatives. This is a fast-paced role, to support consistent, high-quality messaging across government, stakeholders and the community.
You’ll lead and support communications, engagement, promotions, events and media activity developing clear, compelling content and delivering impactful communication strategies. From internal channels to high-level reports, consultations and public-facing materials, you’ll ensure messaging is consistent, accessible and influential.
Working closely with senior leaders and media team, you’ll coordinate communications from concept to delivery, contribute to media responses and key announcements, and build strong relationships across a diverse stakeholder landscape.

About You
You bring proven experience supporting communication strategies and coordinating a range of channels to deliver clear, consistent messaging. Ideally, you have worked within complex or policy-driven environments such as science, environment, planning or conservation and understand how to communicate nuanced information effectively.
You’re a confident writer and editor with a sharp eye for detail, producing high-quality content that resonates with diverse audiences. You’re adept at gathering insights and materials from multiple stakeholders, often under tight timeframes, and turning complex ideas into engaging, accessible communications.
You thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrating strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities with ease. Proactive and solutions-focused, you use sound judgement, work with a degree of autonomy and know when to escalate sensitive or high-risk matters.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in contributing to/developing and implementing communication strategies and content
