The Director, Global Communications, Makeup, is a well-aversed communications expert responsible for driving the execution of public relations strategies for the ELC makeup portfolio, including M·A·C and Bobbi Brown. This role is central to building and maintaining brand awareness through strong media relationships and compelling storytelling. The Director will manage the day-to-day relationship with the PR agency, actively pitch stories to the press, and execute integrated campaigns that support new launches and hero products. This person is a strategic partner and a key player in ensuring the brands show up in culturally relevant ways, while also supporting executive positioning and philanthropic initiatives.
Principal Accountabilities:
Strategy Execution & Media Relations:
- Execute a dynamic communications plan that drives awareness and secures high-quality coverage for new product launches and hero franchises.
- Cultivate and maintain strong, working relationships with key US press, editors, and influencers.
- Actively pitch brand stories, products, and experts to media, securing consistent and impactful placements.
- Manage the PR agency relationship to ensure all efforts are aligned with brand goals and deliverables are met.
- Monitor and analyze press coverage and industry trends to identify new opportunities and provide insights.
Brand Storytelling & Content:
- Support brand storytelling by crafting compelling narratives for press materials, pitches, and media toolkits.
- Play a key role in associating the makeup brands with key cultural moments through strategic outreach and partnerships
- Assist in preparing executives for media interviews and public appearances by developing talking points and briefing materials.
- Support the execution of the annual awards strategy by preparing submissions and managing deadlines.
Philanthropy & Cross-Functional Partnership:
- Drive awareness for the makeup brands' philanthropic programs by supporting media outreach and storytelling efforts.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Social, Artist Relations) to ensure a cohesive 360-degree communications approach.
- Work within a dynamic and global environment, balancing strategic work with hands-on execution.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of related public relations/communications experience
- Strong, established network of contacts in the US beauty and lifestyle media.
- Proven track record of securing top-tier media coverage and executing successful PR campaigns.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A team player with an entrepreneurial approach and a proactive mindset.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in an additional language is a plus.
- Experience in managing PR agencies and budgets.
- Bachelor's degree required.
Pay Range:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,550.00 to $208,200.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.
