Media & Communications Coordinator
Babylonstoren are looking for a creative, proactive and detail-oriented communications professional who is passionate about storytelling, relationship building and brand communication. The ideal candidate is digitally savvy, embraces innovation, is comfortable working with AI-powered tools and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where creativity, initiative and collaboration are valued.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of public relations and communication initiatives that strengthen and promote the Babylonstoren brand.
· Create compelling written, visual and multimedia content for a variety of communication channels, including digital, social media, media relations and internal communication platforms.
· Draft media releases, communication materials, media pitches and other brand-related content.
· Build, maintain and grow a network of media, influencer and industry contacts, while coordinating media and influencer visits to Babylonstoren, including programme development, hospitality arrangements and on-site hosting to ensure exceptional brand experiences.
· Support influencer and creator outreach, relationship management and campaign coordination.
· Monitor media coverage, compile reports and identify opportunities to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
· Assist in analysing communication performance metrics and prepare reports to evaluate campaign effectiveness.
· Coordinate communication-related events, launches, activations and media engagements.
· Provide administrative and project support to ensure the smooth execution of all communication initiatives.
· Leverage AI-powered tools to improve efficiency in content development, research, media monitoring, campaign reporting and communication workflows.
· Stay informed on industry trends, emerging communication platforms, social media developments and best practices.
Requirements:
· A relevant qualification in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related field.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Afrikaans.
· Strong interpersonal, networking and stakeholder engagement skills.
· Excellent administrative, organisational and planning abilities.
· High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work.
· Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work outside of standard office hours when required for events, media engagements, launches and operational needs.
· Proficiency in digital media and social media platforms.
· Comfortable using AI tools to support content creation, research, media monitoring and communication workflows.
· Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· A valid driver's licence and own transport.
Advantageous
· Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar design and content creation tools.
· Basic photography and videography skills.
· Understanding of social media analytics, reporting and content performance measurement.
· Familiarity with influencer marketing, creator partnerships and digital campaigns.
· Previous work experience in public relations, communications, media or marketing.
