The Social Media Coordinator supports the execution of Goodwill’s social media strategy by creating engaging, mission-driven content that highlights our retail stores, donation efforts, events, and life-changing programs. This role plays a key part in telling Goodwill’s story by showcasing community impact, sustainability initiatives, and the individuals we serve, while also driving store traffic and encouraging donations.
Competencies & Responsibilities:
Technical Skills
Experience managing social media platforms and scheduling tools such as Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, or Hootsuite
Proficiency in content creation tools including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic video editing apps
Ability to capture and edit photo and video content for social media using mobile devices or cameras
Familiarity with social media analytics, reporting tools, and key performance metrics such as engagement, reach, and impressions
Project Management
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Experience managing content calendars and coordinating campaigns across multiple locations or teams
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams to gather content and ensure timely execution
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage last-minute requests in a fast-paced environment
Communication & Customer Focus
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt tone across platforms
Ability to engage with customers and respond to comments, messages, and reviews in a timely and professional manner
Experience handling customer inquiries and feedback with empathy and a solutions-focused approach
Strong storytelling skills to communicate brand messaging and mission impact

Key Responsibilities
Execute daily social media content across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and YouTube for multiple Goodwill locations
Create, schedule, and publish engaging content that promotes retail, donations, events, job openings, and mission programs
Write compelling, on-brand captions that balance promotion, storytelling, and community engagement
Capture photo and video content in stores and at community events to highlight real-time impact
Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and reviews in a timely, positive, and helpful manner
Support promotion of seasonal campaigns, hiring initiatives, and special events such as job fairs and fundraising events
Execute and maintain the social media content calendar across multiple locations and programs
Collaborate with internal teams to gather stories, testimonials, and program updates
Identify social media trends and recommend creative ideas to increase engagement and reach
Track and report on performance metrics including engagement, reach, and follower growth
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
Sensory and Physical Requirements
Ability to perform all essential job functions. Must be able to use a computer and related technology. Vision required to work within digital platforms and complete assigned tasks.
Work Environment
Work is primarily conducted in Goodwill’s Home Office, with regular local travel to store locations and community events. Schedule is generally daytime hours, with occasional evening or weekend work.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience
1 to 3 years of experience in social media, marketing, or communications
Strong writing and storytelling skills
Experience managing multiple social media accounts or locations is a plus
Familiarity with social media platforms, trends, and best practices
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
Additional Requirements
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Ability to travel regularly between Goodwill store locations, community events, and other work sites as needed
