We are seeking a Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications to lead the development and execution of marketing and communication strategies that strengthen brand reputation, enhance customer engagement, and support the organization’s strategic objectives across internal and external audiences.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Senior Manager – Marketing and Communication provides strategic direction and is responsible for executing and measuring the success of the brand, corporate communication and marketing programmes that will enhance the organisation’s image and position within the marketplace and the general public. The Senior Manager- Marketing and Communication, will manage the brand, marketing and communication.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. BRANDING AND COMMUNICATIONS ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Brand Management
• Manage and have oversight over the branding and communication strategies for

• Accountable for the consistent communication of image and position throughout the organisation in territory
• Accountable for the communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external within territory
• Accountable for the application of brand across all lines of business within territory
2. Digital Communications Management
• Develop, manage and ensure effective execution of territory digital marketing communication plans associated with website communication and advertising, social media, email marketing, e-commerce and mobile marketing.
• Ensure digital content is in line with set policies that take into account the Group’s brand identity
• Using analytics and other feedback mechanisms, direct the measurement of digital communication impact on stakeholders, via reports and recommendations for continuous development and improvement of digital communication solutions within territory.
3. Corporate Social Responsibility Management (CSR)
• Manage and direct the territory’s CSR programme encompassing environment, workplace, community and marketplace issues that will deliver agreed CSR targets as advised by the Guardian Group Charity Foundation.
• Establish charity partnership programmes and develop relationships with key business contacts as guided by the Guardian Group Charity Foundation.
4. Event Management
• Ensure that the necessary department support is given to the various business units in the organising of social, employee and sales events
• Ensure that the necessary arrangements to key events are in place to get adequate media support and coverage
• Ensure that all company events are guided by the Group’s brand identity and guidelines
5. Media Relations Management
• Direct and Manage the flow of news about the organisation to the media in territory.
• Cultivate and enhance collaborative working relationships within the press and publicity community within territory.
• Direct and Manage and disseminate timely information to press and staff within territory.
• Oversee press events within territory
6. Crisis Communication
• Ensure that all Business Units’ Crisis Communication plans are reviewed and updated annually
• Ensure that all Business Units’ Crisis Communications plans are socialised to the relevant internal stakeholders.
7. Marketing Roles and Responsibilities
• Develop, Formulate and Deliver Territory/ Business Unit Marketing plan for the next fiscal year by 1st June annually
• Identify, develop, and evaluate the BU’s marketing strategy and tactical plans as defined by the BU’s objectives, Group’s brand identity and market characteristics
• Evaluate the marketing and communication financial aspects of product development, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, and return-on-investment.
• To direct, define segmentation and prospecting algorithms for continuous improvement
• To initiate and direct market research and required analysis to understand market tendencies
• Monitor the marketplace and inform the BU of new marketing initiatives accordingly.
• As part of the Product development team coordinate on product specifications such as product objectives, target profiles, product positioning and competitor landscape.
• Identify product improvements/enhancements and new products by remaining current on industry trends and market activities.
• Define, evaluate and prepare feasibility studies for possible channel expansion and alternative distribution opportunities.
8. Leadership Responsibilities
• Lead, motivate, inspire, and encourage employees through effective performance management – setting of clear goals and objectives, ensuring that performance gaps are closed through relevant training, monitors work performance through continuous performance discussions and timely completion of performance appraisals.
• Manage and maintain a positive people and culture environment, within the department, using various plans and methods to ensure a well-balanced, productive, high-performance team.
• Develop and maintain cordial relationships with peers and the company’s management and senior management based on trust, knowledge and partnership.
• Effectively manage territory marketing and communications budgets, ensuring that there is prudent oversight of spend, to fall within the established budget limits.
9. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Branding or a related field from a recognised tertiary level educational institution.
• Master’s in Marketing, Communications or Branding or a related degree with specialisations in Marketing, Communications or Branding from a recognised tertiary level education institution.
• Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in a branding, marketing and communications role, with at least five (5) years in a managerial/leadership capacity.
• Experience in providing strategic communications advice to senior-level leaders.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

The Senior Manager, Marketing and Communication must lead a highly motivated, high performance and effective team. He/she must always be acutely aware of changes in the market and industry and is a critical part of the process used by the organisation to adapt as required. He/She must be able to work in a matrix complex environment, by being an advisor and collaborator across several disciplines. He/She must be a thinker, generating new ideas and solutions as well as effective and novel ways to deliver on effective marketing and communication strategies.
