As a Senior Communications Manager at Lumina Corps, you will play a crucial role in growing and leading our health communications team as you support public health and science research communications programs.
What you’ll do:
- Collaboration: Works with clients to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables aligned with strategic science and health communications goals. Interacts with multidisciplinary internal team members to execute project deliverables, communicating clearly and providing budget and timeline direction.
- Strategic Communications Planning: Synthesizing project objectives and research, develops work plans for campaigns, outreach initiatives, scientific report launches, and more. Stays abreast of trends and demonstrates the ability to translate client needs into strategic recommendations.
- Client Service: Develops strong relationships with clients and colleagues by leading with a customer-focused, collaborative approach. Use strong presentation skills to convey project progress, priorities, milestones, and recommendations effectively to clients and internal team members.
- Materials Oversight: Manages the planning and execution of qualitative research, strategic recommendations, materials development (including print, digital, and multimedia), and outreach activities, and ensures all deliverables are of high quality.
- Project Management: Handles multiple projects and schedules simultaneously, developing budgets, forecasting and tracking spending, and ensuring successful project delivery. Communicates clearly to internal team members and oversees vendor work products and budgets.
Education and Experience
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in communications, public health, health education, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 6-8 years of experience, with 4+ years of progressive communication management experience. Experience with federal public health programs, agencies, or similar contexts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Leadership Skills: Ability to coordinate work across multidisciplinary teams, including strategists, writers, designers, digital professionals, and vendors. Experience managing budgets and allocating resources effectively.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication. Experience working directly with clients, developing and delivering strategies and recommendations clearly and persuasively.
- Client Relations Skills: Experience working directly with clients and offering strategic guidance; commitment to cultivating and maintaining strong relationships.
- Expertise: Understanding of health communications planning and execution, from formative research to execution and evaluation. Ability to develop and implement communications strategies that align with business goals. Using analytical skills, ability to evaluate impact and use data to inform strategies.
