We are currently hiring for the position of:
MANAGER, ADVERTISING & PROMOTION SALES
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Market Sales, the Manager, Advertising & Promotions leads the strategy, development, and execution of high-impact advertising and promotional campaigns for TIFF: The Market. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, managing key client relationships, and delivering best-in-class brand activations across festival venues, including the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) and TIFF Lightbox.
The Manager plays a critical role in shaping the commercial advertising offering, building strategic partnerships, and achieving an annual revenue target of approximately $700,000. Working cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and production teams, this role ensures seamless campaign execution while enhancing the overall partner experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advertising & Promotions Strategy & Execution
Lead the development and execution of integrated advertising and promotional strategies aligned with Market objectives
Design innovative, customized activation concepts that deliver measurable value for partners
Oversee end-to-end execution of campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand standards and operational excellence
Identify new advertising inventory opportunities across Market venues and platforms
Sales & Revenue Growth
Own and drive advertising and promotions revenue targets
Proactively identify, develop, and close new business opportunities across studios, agencies, film commissions, and industry stakeholders
Lead upselling and cross-selling initiatives across Market assets, including MTCC and TIFF Lightbox
Maintain and actively manage a robust sales pipeline, forecasting revenue performance and mitigating risks
Support exhibition sales through prospect research, outreach, proposal development, and pitching
Client & Partnership Management
Serve as the primary relationship lead for key advertising partners and sponsors
Build and maintain long-term strategic partnerships to drive repeat business and revenue growth
Lead contract negotiations, ensuring alignment on deliverables, timelines, and commercial terms
Provide high-touch client service, ensuring partner satisfaction and successful campaign outcomes
Operations & Campaign Delivery
Oversee campaign timelines, deliverables, and execution across all advertising and promotional activations
Ensure accuracy and consistency across proposals, contracts, and partner communications
Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery on-site
Manage invoicing, payment tracking, and financial reconciliation for assigned accounts
Cross-Functional Leadership
Work closely with internal teams (sales, marketing, programming, production, and operations) to align on strategy and execution
Act as a key liaison between commercial partners and internal stakeholders
Provide guidance and mentorship to coordinators or junior team members (if applicable)
Reporting & Insights
Track and analyze revenue performance, campaign effectiveness, and client ROI
Prepare post-event reports with actionable insights, client feedback, and recommendations for future growth
Contribute to the overall Market commercial strategy through data-driven insights
On-Site Event Leadership
Lead on-site execution of advertising and promotional activations during the Festival Market
Ensure operational readiness across venues in collaboration with production teams
Act as an escalation point for client issues, ensuring timely resolution and partner satisfaction

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Film Studies, Event Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
4–7 years of experience in sales, account management, media sales, film sales, or event-based revenue roles
Proven track record of achieving revenue targets in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
Experience working in film markets, festivals, entertainment sales, or similar B2B environments is strongly preferred
Experience managing scheduling, inventory, or high-volume booking systems is an asset
Strong sales and negotiation skills with the ability to close high-value deals
Deep understanding of client strategy, audience behaviour, and market dynamics
Strong organizational and scheduling skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive, high-pressure environment
Excellent communication and relationship management skills with senior industry stakeholders
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make real-time decisions confidently
Proficiency with CRM systems and scheduling or booking platforms
Strong Excel/data analysis skills for tracking revenue, forecasting, and performance analysis
Experience with screening, media delivery, or content management systems is an asset
Onsite presence required during event execution
Ability to respond quickly and effectively in live operational environments
