As Senior Manager, Media Relations, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering Westpac’s external communications and media engagement.
Reporting to the Group Head of Media Relations and CEO Communications, this role is responsible for developing compelling story ideas and leading proactive media campaigns that are relevant, newsworthy, and meaningful for Westpac’s customers and stakeholders. You will also support the effective day‑to‑day planning and management of Group Media activity, providing strong coordination, judgement, and execution in a highly visible environment.
This role calls for creativity, sound judgement and strong stakeholder leadership with the ability to operate at pace. Working closely with the Executive Manager, Media Relations, you will help drive proactive media engagement that enhances Westpac’s reputation and supports its strategic priorities.
What do I need?
- Demonstrated Media Relations experience across journalism, agencies, or corporate affairs, ideally in regulated or consumer-facing environments
- Strong content creation capability, including compelling storytelling across channels and audiences
- Expertise in digital and social media content creation
- Established media network across national, business, and consumer outlets
- Excellent communication and judgement, with the ability to manage reputational risk, regulatory sensitivity, and high‑scrutiny environments
- Ability to read and interpret data and develop consumer research reports
You will also demonstrate flexibility with in‑office attendance required around meetings, collaboration and delivery commitments.
