About the Role
Frieze publishing is looking for a commercially driven, culturally connected sales leader to own and grow its media revenue across the Americas. As Head of Media Sales, Americas, you'll take full ownership of one of the world's most prestigious art media brands' largest territories- spanning print, digital, and branded content; reporting directly to the publisher and operating with real autonomy. You'll be building a strong client pipeline, opening doors with galleries, museums, auction houses, foundations, and translating frieze's unrivalled cultural authority into lasting commercial partnerships.
Frieze is the leading global organization for art and culture, producing internationally acclaimed publishing titles and fairs in London, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, Chicago and Abu Dhabi, as well as a year-round programme of editorial, events and partnerships.
The role is responsible for driving significant revenue growth across print, digital and content platforms. This position requires a high-performing sales leader with a proven track record of winning new business, building a strong pipeline and developing lasting client relationships across the arts and culture sector. The role carries full ownership of the Americas sales territory and reports into the publisher.
This is a full-time role and qualified candidates must be based in New York.
The salary range for this role is 125,000-140,000 USD and is determined by market data, experience, location and internal banding. Ranges will be discussed transparently during the interview process.
What Success Looks Like:
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective advertisers across print, digital and content products
- Lead outreach and pitching to galleries, museums, foundations, auction houses, art fairs
- Develop and execute territory-specific new business strategies, including targeted prospecting plans, key account mapping and structured follow-up processes
- Set and consistently achieve ambitious new business revenue targets, contributing meaningfully to Frieze’s advertising sales growth
- Represent frieze media at art fairs, industry events and client meetings across the region, actively leveraging these opportunities to generate leads and close business
What You'll Own:
Print
- Drive print advertising sales across 17 publications per annum
- Develop tailored print proposals and packages for new and existing clients in the region
- Identify opportunities to grow year-on-year print revenue through new advertiser acquisition and increased spend from existing accounts
- Identify and prioritise revenue opportunities tied to new print initiatives, ensuring strong advertiser support from launch
- Develop commercial strategies for new print projects launched in the Americas region
Digital
- Manage and grow digital advertising sales across Frieze.com, newsletter, social media and programmatic channels
- Foster development and commercialisation of digital advertising products across all Frieze platforms
- Formulate and execute a go-to-market strategy for new digital media advertising opportunities
- Develop and sell advertorial opportunities and branded video content to new and existing advertisers
- Work with editorial and studios teams to package and pitch compelling digital content solutions to clients
Client Relationships
- Manage and grow relationships with advertising clients across the arts sector, including galleries, museums, foundations and auction houses
- Serve as the senior commercial point of contact for key accounts in the Americas, ensuring long-term retention and revenue growth
Marketing and Representation
- Serve as the senior external representative for frieze’s media sales team across the Americas, attending art fairs and key industry events
- Oversee regional promotional activities
- Coordinate closely with the editorial team to strengthen client relationships and ensure appropriate coverage
- Identify and track opportunities for special projects in the region, including media partnerships
What You Bring:
Essential
- Demonstrable track record of exceeding sales targets, with a strong emphasis on new business acquisition
- Significant experience in media sales in the arts and culture sector
- Deep understanding of the advertising landscape across print and digital platforms
- Experience selling digital advertising products including programmatic, newsletter and social media
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Established network of contacts across the arts and culture sector in the Americas
- Ability to work independently, manage a territory autonomously and thrive in a target-driven environment
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and act on market opportunities
Desirable
- Familiarity with frieze’s publications, art fairs and brand positioning
- Experience in branded content or advertorial sales
- Proficiency with CRM systems and sales reporting tools
