TITLE: Marketing Communications Specialist

SUMMARY:
The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for managing the College's social media presence, public relations efforts, communications initiatives, event promotion, and marketing project coordination. This position works closely with departments across the College to identify stories, promote events, support enrollment marketing efforts, and ensure consistent communication with internal and external audiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Communications
- Draft and edit communications for a variety of audiences.
- Manage the development, production, and distribution of student, employee, alumni, and community newsletters.
- Coordinate newsletter content with departments across the College.
- Develop communication plans that support institutional priorities and enrollment goals.
- Assist with institutional announcements and executive communications.
- Ensure consistency in messaging and brand voice across all communication channels.
- Monitor communication effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Social Media Management
- Own and maintain the social media content calendar.
- Plan, write, schedule, and publish social media content.
- Monitor engagement and audience growth.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on campaign development.
Public Relations
- Write press releases and media alerts.
- Coordinate media inquiries and interviews.
- Develop relationships with local and regional media.
- Identify opportunities for earned media coverage.
Content Development
- Research and write student, alumni, faculty, and employee success stories.
- Develop content for newsletters, websites, and marketing materials.
- Conduct interviews and gather information from stakeholders.
- Work with the Content and Design Specialist to create content.
- Take photos at events and other campus happenings.
Events Calendar Management
- Manage the College's master events calendar.
- Coordinate event submissions from departments.
- Ensure events are accurately promoted across communication channels.
- Develop timelines and processes for event promotion.
Marketing Operations
- Manage the marketing request process.
- Serve as administrator for Monday.com.
- Track project timelines, approvals, and deliverables.
- Coordinate project priorities with the Director of Marketing & Communications.
- Maintain workflows and project management processes.
Website and Digital Communications
- Assist with website content updates.
- Review website content for accuracy and relevance.
- Support digital marketing initiatives through content development.
Brand Management
- Support institutional branding standards.
- Monitor online mentions and public sentiment.
- Ensure consistency across communication channels.
Event Marketing
- Support promotion of institutional events.
- Attend selected events to gather content.
- Coordinate event-related communications and social media coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in communications, marketing, social media, public relations, or related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Experience managing organizational social media accounts.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Experience with project management platforms such as Monday.com preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Sitting or standing for long periods of time
- Ability to easily navigate several flights of stairs multiple times per day
