Job Summary:
This position helps define and advance the vision, strategic direction, and evolution of the bank’s marketing, advertising, and communications functions. This role translates strategy into integrated marketing initiatives with oversight of planned goals and allocated budget. The role is responsible for shaping the Bank’s brand and voice across all internal and external channels.
Essential Functions:
Marketing & Communications Strategy
- Lead the planning and execution of integrated marketing and communications initiatives that enhance brand visibility, reputation, and market share
- Ensure consistent messaging and voice across all channels, including advertising, digital, social, website, collateral, and in-branch communications
- Drive communications effectiveness through data-informed decisions, regularly analyzing campaign performance, audience insights, and market trends
- Partner with business line leaders to develop targeted messaging that supports product adoption, cross-sell opportunities, and customer engagement
- Participate in annual planning and budgeting, aligning communications priorities with business objectives
- Evaluate and implement new marketing and communications technologies that support business objectives
Brand & External Communications
- Oversee the Bank’s brand strategy, ensuring all communications reinforce a strong, consistent, and differentiated market position
- Guide the development of creative assets and storytelling that clearly articulate the Bank’s value proposition
- Manage and continuously improve the Bank’s digital presence to strengthen engagement and support business goals
- Ensure all external communications meet regulatory and compliance standards
Agency & Vendor Management
- Lead relationships with the Marketing Agency of Record and external vendors
- Direct strategic planning, creative development, and campaign execution to ensure alignment with business and communications objectives
- Evaluate deliverables and provide clear, actionable feedback to maintain quality, consistency, and effectiveness
- Research new strategic partnerships that can support and scale department operations
Marketing Operations
- Oversee day-to-day marketing and communications operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and alignment with strategic goals
- Maintain governance of brand standards, messaging frameworks, and communications best practices
- Identify opportunities to enhance products, services, and customer experience through insights gathered from marketing and communications efforts
- Keep the Senior Director of People and Communications informed of key developments, risks, and opportunities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing and communications team
- Foster a culture of open communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Set clear goals and expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and support professional growth
- Allocate resources effectively to balance priorities and maximize team impact
Skills, Experience, and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications is highly preferred plus ten or more years of leadership experience in a marketing or communications function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Expert understanding of strategic planning, creative development, all media channels, advertising theory, public relations and website optimization
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, MS Office or similar tools
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative marketing research tools and techniques
- Strategic thinker with analytical and creative problem-solving ability
- Track record of implementing successful marketing strategies and tactical plans
- Excellent presentation, oral communication and relationship building skills
- Experience leading and developing staff
- Must possess excellent organizational and project management skills
- Agency experience working with financial services clients a plus
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable.
- Minimal physical effort required. May sit or stand with freedom of movement on a regular basis.
- Handling of moderately heavy materials (up to 20 pounds) periodically.
- Periodic travel within the Bank’s geographical footprint is required.
