Social Media Coordinator

The Social Media Coordinator is an integral member of the Organization and is responsible for creating, capturing, writing, and editing content for Discover Puerto Rico’s social media efforts. Assists the Social Media Senior Manager in executing brand strategy, including content creation across social media platforms.
Core Responsibilities:
- Learn and apply Discover Puerto Rico’s brand voice, tone, and target audience across all social media content and communications.
- Create, capture, edit, and publish engaging content for Discover Puerto Rico’s social media channels, including posts, Stories, albums, short-form videos, etc.
- Edit mobile-first video content using tools such as CapCut and support visual asset creation through platforms like Canva.
- Assisting with planning, scheduling, and publishing daily social media content across platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest, and others.
- Stay up to date on social media trends, platform updates, emerging formats, and industry conversations to help identify timely content opportunities.
- Monitor competitors, tourism trends, and cultural moments to recommend relevant and engaging content ideas.
- Support day-to-day community management efforts by assisting with comments, direct messages, and audience engagement as needed.
- Curate and organize user-generated content (UGC) using social media aggregation and content management tools.
- Monitor engagement performance and audience behavior to support optimization recommendations and content performance reporting.
- Travel across Puerto Rico’s 78 municipalities to capture photo and video content that supports Discover Puerto Rico’s marketing initiatives.
- Attend events, activations, and special experiences on and off the island to provide real-time social media coverage through photography, video, Stories, and live content.
- Support live social media broadcasts and on-location content creation efforts.
- Collaborate with the department on brainstorming sessions, campaign development, creative concepts, and special projects.
- Assisting in developing reports and tracking social media performance metrics regularly.
- Maintain a growing knowledge of Puerto Rico’s tourism, hospitality, culture, and lifestyle landscape.
Key Credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- +2 years of experience creating engaging copy and content for social media platforms.
- Experience producing short-form video content for brands, campaigns, freelance projects, or personal content platforms.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
- Familiarity with social media management, content marketing, and digital storytelling best practices.
- Experience using creative and editing tools such as CapCut and Canva.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working collaboratively within a diverse and creative team environment.
- Passion for Puerto Rico’s culture, destinations, tourism industry, and storytelling.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation for travel across the Island.
- Must own a smartphone capable of supporting mobile content creation, publishing, and communication needs.
- Must be available to work in the evenings and/or during weekends if there is a necessity or event.
