Job Summary
Waco Family Medicine (WFM), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), offers a paid Summer Internship Program for students and recent graduates interested in healthcare, nonprofit, and community-focused work. Interns contribute to meaningful projects, receive mentorship, and learn how a mission-driven organization serves underserved communities.
Internship dates: June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026
Work format: Varies by department and role
Applicants apply once and may indicate interest in one or more internship tracks. Final assignments and projects vary based on interests, skills, and department needs.
Essential Functions
Interns may be assigned to one or more tracks:
Marketing & Communications
Draft or edit short-form content using approved templates and messaging.
Assist with creating or organizing content and tracking basic metrics (as applicable).
Support communication-related projects.
Nonmedical Drivers of Health
(Everyday factors like food, housing, transportation, and service access that affect health.)
Help organize community resources or referral information.
Assist with documenting workflows that support access to care.
Assist in the Wellness Center (patient and staff gym to support health)
Create plain-language materials as needed.
Note: Assignments, mentors, and projects may vary based on department needs.
QualificationsQualifications
Required
Currently enrolled in an accredited program or a recent graduate.
Strong communication, teamwork, professionalism, and reliability.
Willingness to learn and follow confidentiality expectations.
Preferred (varies by track; not required)
Marketing and Communications: Writing, editing, or content experience.
