Job Summary:
We’re looking for a Social Media & Communications Coordinator to join our team in a year-round role supporting social media execution, communications coordination, and winter operational reporting across Killington Resort and Pico Mountain.
This individual will work primarily with the Marketing & Communications team to support day-to-day social media publishing, guest engagement, communications coordination, and recurring operational reporting across Killington Resort and Pico Mountain. During the winter season, this role will lead snow reporting responsibilities, including daily conditions reports, operational alerts, and website updates. During the summer season, this role will lead daily mountain updates focused on mountain bike trail conditions, golf conditions, summer events, and Adventure Center operations. Throughout the year, this person will help ensure social and communications workflows are organized, timely, and aligned with brand standards and department priorities.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to balance recurring administrative responsibilities with real-time communications needs. This person should be comfortable with public speaking and have a strong interest in resort operations, social media, and guest communications.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Prepare and distribute daily conditions reports covering weather, snow and trail conditions, resort activities, and events for Killington Resort and Pico Mountain during the winter season.
Prepare and distribute daily summer mountain updates covering mountain bike trail conditions, golf conditions, summer events, and Adventure Center operations.
Communicate daily conditions to media, local businesses, TV stations, and internal outlets via websites, email, and other electronic platforms.
Provide daily alerts regarding lift or operational changes.
Participate in daily snow plan meetings to gather information and support communications planning during the winter season.
Ensure website content related to conditions, operations, and mountain updates is current, concise, and aligned with marketing strategies and brand guidelines.
Schedule, publish, and manage daily social media posts across platforms using Sprout Social and native publishing tools as needed.
Engage, build, and proactively manage a positive social media community across organic and paid experiences consistently, and occasionally outside of regular working hours.
Help maintain brand voice, style, and social engagement processes across platforms in coordination with the Marketing & Communications team.
Serve as a first point of contact for many guest interactions on social media and act as a liaison between guests and other mountain departments when needed.
Analyze, track, and measure performance against KPIs and assist in compiling monthly social media reporting.
Produce and disseminate weekly updates to the local chamber.
Assist in keeping project management software organized by following up on tasks and supporting the Marketing & Communications team.
Support day-to-day administrative and project coordination needs related to social media, communications, and campaign execution.
Contribute to content creation for social media channels as needed to reinforce the brand, raise awareness, and support timely, high-quality publishing.
Support internal communications, social campaigns, and other marketing and communications initiatives as assigned.
Support signage, on-mountain messaging, and other operational communications needs as assigned.
Leverage Artificial Intelligence tools and platforms to increase efficiency, strengthen work output, and support content creation, communications, planning, and daily workflow management.
Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
BA/BS in a related field such as Marketing, Communications, Journalism, PR, or Advertising preferred, or a combination of education and experience that provides comparable skills.
1–3 years of relevant experience in communications, social media, marketing, journalism, or a related field preferred.
Extensive skiing or snowboarding experience required; advanced intermediate or above required.
Must be willing to ski or ride regularly during the winter season.
Weekend and early morning availability required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong understanding of social media platforms, publishing workflows, audience engagement, and platform best practices.
Experience with Sprout Social or similar social media management, analytics, or listening tools preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Dependable, reliable, and able to manage recurring tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with real-time communications needs.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ChatGPT, and related workplace tools.
Familiarity with project management tools such as Basecamp preferred.
Comfortable and confident at public speaking.
Familiarity with the ski industry and Killington Resort and Pico Mountain preferred.
Knowledge of photography, videography, and digital content captures a plus.
