POSITION SUMMARY:
The marketing and communications intern will support the Merrimack Valley YMCA marketing and communications staff. They will work on projects related to graphic design, social media, event planning, administrative tasks, website updates and data analytics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work directly with the VP of Marketing, Director of Marketing and Graphic Designer on department projects
Take photos and videos of Y events and programs
Travel among the Y’s branches (Andover, Methuen, Lawrence, and Salem NH) for marketing projects and content building to create social media posts
Work with branches to create plan and execute the Y’s participations in community National Night Out events (held first week of August)
Provide marketing and event planning support for Family Nights programming at all branches
Create event and program flyers for branches
Assist with planning, preparation and execution of On Course for a Cause, annual golf tournament
Assist in planning and administrative work to prepare for annual Auction Gala
Attend Y events and provide administrative and marketing support
Assist with website content drafting, updating and editing
Other projects as needed

Apply classroom skills in real world setting
Engage with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the association
Build a portfolio with materials and marketing work samples
Develop event management and production skills by successfully supporting and managing Y events
Increase skills and understanding of marketing, communications and public relations functions
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to represent the YMCA personally, professionally and in a manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the YMCA
Ability to maintain the Y’s core values
Ability to work independently
Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office tools
Familiarity with Wordpress, CRM software, and Google Analytics is helpful (not required)
Experience with social media platforms
