POSITION SUMMARY: Moravian University invites applications for part-time adjunct teaching positions in the Communications program. This is an interdisciplinary program that prepares students to become skilled communicators prepared to lead and innovate in a diverse and globally connected world. Through a curriculum that integrates theory with contemporary professional practices, we empower students to analyze, create, and strategically manage messages across a variety of platforms and contexts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach courses as assigned which correlate with the catalog descriptions and course outlines, in a manner designed to assist the student in achieving the specific objectives of the course.
- Teach undergraduate courses in any of the following areas: introductory communications or media studies, communications theory, intercultural communication, principles of public relations, strategic communications
- Communicate regularly and professionally with the Program Director
- Provide detailed and timely feedback to students on assignments
- Hold student hours (sometimes known as “office hours”) weekly
- Complete required administrative tasks, including verifying enrollment rosters, submitting syllabi to the department for approval and records, entering final grades, and completing any necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
- Comply with all relevant program and university policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA Degree in Communication Studies or related field
- Proficiency in a variety of communication and teaching perspectives
- Knowledge of contemporary communication theories and applications
- Excellent relational skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Terminal degree or professional experience relevant to upper division, undergraduate Communication Studies major courses.
- Prior teaching experience at the university level
- Understanding of the ethical and practical roles of AI in the field of communications
