Internship Description/Learning Objectives:

The Youth Leadership & Communications Internship provides youth with hands-on exposure to leadership development, media support, and community engagement. Interns develop essential workplace skills while assisting with communication efforts, leadership programming, and basic media documentation.
This internship supports workforce readiness by building communication skills, teamwork, professionalism, and confidence. Interns gain experience relevant to careers in leadership, media, nonprofit administration, and community outreach. |

Job Duties:
|
- Assist with basic audio and media setup for podcasts, radio shows, or recorded content under staff supervision.
- Support recording sessions by helping with organization, setup, and breakdown of media equipment.
- Observe and assist with content planning, scripting, or discussion preparation for youth-led media projects.
- Assist with youth leadership activities and workshops.
- Model professionalism and positive communication.

Yes, limited and supervised travel for program-related learning experiences, including visits to local radio stations, media studios, and community partner sites.
Transportation will be coordinated by the program or guardians as required, and all off -site activities will be supervised by staff. |

The full program is June 1st– July 17th
June 1st – June 3rd: Interns attend assigned worksite for scheduled times.
June 4th: POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport
June 5th – July 17th: Team Members on site at their agencies on Monday-Friday at the time
scheduled by employer. You will be scheduled to work 4 hours daily
which equals 20 hours per week.
July 13th – July 17th: POWER Youth Summer Employment Program - End of Summer
Celebration – Team Members can showcase their projects from the
summer.
If you are selected as an Experience Work Team Member, you will make $12.00 an hour and receive a summer program with project-based employment for youth ages 14 -15.
Experience Work projects can be focused on the arts, leadership skills or community development. In addition, you will learn “work ready” skills for future employment. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation.
The POWER Youth program, previously known as Opportunity NOW, provides career exploration and work experience activities for youth 14 to 24 years old. The name POWER Youth was selected by the peer youth leadership team based on how they view themselves and their future.
