Position Summary
BB&E is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Strategic Communications Specialist to join our team to provide support to the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) Special Programs Division onsite at Tyndall AFB, FL.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Comprehensive support to strategic communication planning, command information, and media operations.
- Support the Special Programs Division with strategic communications initiatives.
- Prepare and release news and technical information for internal and civilian media.
- Prepare periodicals, guides, pamphlets, fact sheets, and multimedia scripts.
- Write and edit articles featuring special programs division activities, adjusting content based on intended audience.
- Prepare, edit, and distribute program material and provide graphic and photographic support for the Division.
- Assist with supporting the Special Programs Division to engage with local and regional civic leaders, local and regional government agencies, and other organizations.
- Assist with preparing material and presentations for Division leadership to deliver to civic groups and military audiences.
- Receive queries from news media, obtain information, coordinate answers with Government POCs, and prepare draft responses for public affairs officer or designated spokesman
- Assist the public affairs officer with news conferences and with responses to incidents.
- Refer materials to the public affairs officer to determine compliance with local and Air Force policy and operational security.
- Use audiovisual resources to support strategic communications activities.
- Protocol duties include working with host wing protocol office to ensure organization is prepared for visitors, and handling additional tasks related to distinguished visitors.
Key Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Government Security Clearance (NACI) is required
- Knowledge
- o Ability to review historical documents and apply processes to execute tasks.
- o Ability to comprehend and follow established Air Force procedures.
- o Experience with Air Force Records Management and Administrative Record
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey concepts to diverse audiences. Strong technical writing expertise required.
- Software: Proficiency using MS Office software including Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint and advanced Adobe skills preferred
- Self-Starter: Highly motivated to improve organizational efficiency, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously
Experience & Education
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of related experience; DoD or another governmental agency preferred.
- Education: A master’s degree in communications or a related subject.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time
• Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
• Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms
• Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away
• Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone
