UTHealth Houston’s Marketing and Communications department is seeking a Director of Marketing Intelligence. This employee will lead the development and execution of a modern marketing intelligence capability that enables data-driven, innovative, and strategic decision-making across UTHealth Houston. This role blends advanced analytics, marketing intelligence, digital insights, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to guide marketing strategy, optimize performance, and enhance audience engagement across academic, research, and clinical missions. The Director serves as a trusted strategic partner to institutional and marketing leadership, translating complex data into actionable insights that advance organizational priorities. Position Key Accountabilities:
- Leads the development and execution of an enterprise marketing intelligence strategy that enables data¿driven institutional decision-making.
- Establishes and governs enterprise marketing KPIs, measurement frameworks, attribution models, and performance standards to demonstrate impact and ROI.
- Develops executive-ready dashboards, reports, and insights that inform strategy, optimize performance, and identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Analyzes marketing, campaign, and audience data across the digital ecosystem (web, campaigns, search, and social) to improve engagement, conversion, and outcomes.
- Partners with clinical and university marketing leaders to generate insights supporting patient acquisition, service line growth, brand awareness, and student recruitment, using privacy-first data practices.
- Identifies, evaluates, and pilots artificial intelligence and advanced analytics solutions that enhance marketing intelligence, experimentation, and decision-making.
- Collaborates with marketing, digital, IT, and compliance teams to ensure responsible, ethical, and effective use of data and AI.
- Builds and leads a high-performing marketing intelligence team and center of excellence, promoting data literacy through training, tools, and best-practice playbooks.
- Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regard to: recruiting and selection; hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
- Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- Advanced understanding of marketing intelligence, analytics, and performance measurement frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing ecosystems, analytics platforms, BI tools, and data architectures.
- Experience applying artificial intelligence or machine learning tools to marketing analytics or audience insights.
- Ability to translate complex analytics into clear, executive-ready insights and recommendations.
- Strong data storytelling, visualization, and executive communication skills.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to connect data insights to institutional goals and outcomes.
- Systems-thinking mindset across platforms, campaigns, channels, and audience journeys.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across marketing, communications, digital, IT, and clinical teams.
- Experience operating effectively in complex, matrixed, or highly regulated environments.
- Work may involve handling biohazardous, chemical, and radiological materials, as well as operating associated equipment. Required safety training and appropriate engineering and administrative controls including the use of personal protective equipment must be followed.
- AI, analytics, or data-related certification preferred
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, analytics, business, communications, data science, or a related field required
Minimum Experience:
7 years of progressive experience in marketing analytics, marketing intelligence, digital strategy, data intelligence, or marketing technology, including experience translating complex data into strategic insights and leading or influencing teams and initiatives required
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
