The Role:
This role leads the design and delivery of a global marketing performance and reporting framework, aligned to wider organisational measures. It quantifies return on investment, drives digital performance reporting, and provides insight to inform strategic decision‑making, standards, and continuous improvement across the global network.
Accountabilities:
Leadership and Management
- Plans and prioritises own work activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and deliverables over a quarterly to annual time horizon.
- Determines work plans and coordinates input from others (who may be outside the direct management line) to meet specific objectives.
- Provides formal line management of a team of Performance experts and Business Scientist.
Strategy and Planning
- Leads the implementation of global marketing reporting frameworks and performance dashboards, providing a central, consistent view of marketing performance in collaboration with the Marketing Operations team.
- Designs and embeds aligned marketing KPIs, processes, and tools across plans globally, ensuring engagement, buy‑in, and compliance with performance and reporting standards.
Relationship and Stakeholder management
- Actively participates in the Marketing Community of Practice and the network of marketing professionals.
- Develops peer/personal networks within and outside Marketing and Communications to enhance own knowledge and expertise.
- Proactively builds and maintains excellent relationships with partners and stakeholders to ensure integrated, joined up and future-proofed approaches and solutions.
Sector/Subject expertise
- Develops deep insight into global marketing performance measurement contexts, challenges, and opportunities, ensuring approaches are informed, relevant, and aligned with organisational priorities.
- Partners closely with colleagues and stakeholders to connect performance reporting to wider business needs, strategy, and joined‑up organisational thinking.
- Provides expert guidance on performance frameworks, delivers aligned global solutions, and maintains professional excellence through continuous development.
Consultancy, analysis and Problem Solving
- Delivers expert global analysis and reporting on marketing outcomes, guiding managers on effective indicators and metrics to inform marketing strategies, using standard tools and templates.
- Applies advanced analytics by combining customer and marketing data to assess effectiveness, maximise ROI, and recommend aligned performance measures in collaboration with Marketing Operations and wider teams.
Role specific knowledge and experience:
Essential:
- Highly developed analytical and modelling skills
- Experience of leading performance and reporting within a large and complex organisation
- Deep understanding of the processes and tools that enable effective performance measurement and reporting
- Demonstrable experience in developing and managing cascaded performance measurement and reporting systems
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the markets the British Council operates in.
- Experience in a global organisation
Language Requirements:
The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.
