We seek a talented student to assist with marketing, public relations, and communications projects. This position is designed to gain hands-on marketing, public relations, and communication experience. We are looking for a detail-oriented student with writing and social media skills who will show initiative, organization, and positivity and represent John A. Logan College with competence and professionalism.
Education & Experience Requirements
Education required:
- Must be an enrolled JALC student, with a minimum of 6 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters
- Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Have a high school diploma
- Have a FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid office
Qualifications Required:
- Excellent writing skills (grammatical and conceptual)
- Possess diplomacy, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Must have strong organizational and presentation skills
- Basic knowledge of Intermediate Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills, Adobe Creative Suite; Associated Press writing style; competency in all social media platforms
Qualifications Preferred:
- Career aspirations in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, sports journalism, integrated marketing, advertising, or design-related fields
- Experience with photography and videography
- Familiarity and interest in social media platforms and strategy
- Some journalistic experience
- Experience with WordPress or similar web content management systems
Essential Functions & Position Duties
- Write ad copy, press releases, and student and staff spotlight articles for public dissemination and use in College promotional material
- Update content on all College-sponsored social media platforms and website
- Conduct research interviews, take photographs, and edit press releases, social media, and web content
- Occasionally assists with or attends campus events as requested
- Assist in covering and promoting Logan Athletics Events
Non-Essential Functions of the Position
Other duties as assigned. Duties must be performed on the John A. Logan College campus or designated location.
