About the job:
NOVE is looking for a Consultant for its Transport & Energy Practice.
Since our launch, we have supported a wide range of clients in navigating the complexities of the EU’s green transition. Our work in the transport and energy sectors is driven by our commitment to helping clients contribute to and thrive within the evolving regulatory landscape of decarbonisation and sustainable mobility.
With the support of a Partner, the Consultant will play a crucial role in consolidating and growing our Transport & Energy Practice.
Role and responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of public affairs and communication strategies for our clients in the transport and energy sectors.
- Provide strategic advice to clients on complex issues related to transport and energy policies, EU regulations, advocacy and thought leadership campaigns.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including EU officials from DG MOVE and DG CLIMA , MEPs in relevant committees and their staff, Council working parties notably on Environment and Land Transport and industry players.
- Help develop and implement a new business plan for the Transport & Energy Practice, including by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and building relationships with potential clients.
- Represent the company in public policy discussions and meetings.
- Take on the role of account manager for NOVE’s transport clients.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality services to our clients.
- Contribute to the overall management and decision-making of the company.
- Work closely with colleagues across NOVE's Practices to ensure a coordinated and integrated approach to client service.
Qualifications and skills:
- Between 2 and 5 years of professional experience in EU policy and public affairs. Experience within the European Parliament or other EU institutions is preferred.
- A solid understanding of EU decision-making processes, especially the ordinary legislative procedure and trilogue negotiations, and the existence of a strong institutional network.
- In-depth understanding of EU policy on mobility decarbonisation, transport regulation, EU energy policy, and the green transition.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key legislative files, including:
- Mobility decarbonisation: CO2 standards for LDV and HDV, Clean Corporate Vehicles, AFIR Eurovignette, Euro 7, EU ETS 1 and 2, FuelEU Maritime and ReFuelEU Aviation
- Transport: MDMS, Single digital booking and Ticketing, Multimodal passenger rights, Market access for bus and coach (Regulation 1073)
- Proven ability to develop and implement successful public affairs and communication strategies in the transport and energy sectors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Client-oriented mindset, with an ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Advocacy-oriented mindset towards the EU institutions notably DG CLIMA, DG MOVE, TRAN, ITRE and ENVI committees and Council working parties on environment and land transport
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Perfect command of English; additional languages considered an asset.
