Public Relations Assistant
Position Purpose
The Public Relations Assistant will be part of a growing team at the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA). As a key team member, this role will support the execution of campaigns by coordinating digital material, distributing emails, and updating website content. Providing administrative support to the communications team and attending industry events, this position is crucial in advancing ACSA’s goals, objectives, projects, and strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the distribution of marketing and communications emails, maintaining and updating distribution lists.
- Conduct basic website content updates in coordination with the public relations specialist and the Information Systems department.
- Collaborate across departments and with subject matter experts. Collect information and content, supporting department communication plans to meet ACSA goals and objectives.
- Draft, edit and assist the team in creating project, communications and marketing content, social media scheduling, follower interactions and monitoring and analyzing insights supporting initiatives.
- Provide administrative support to the team, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports and presentations and maintaining Outlook and content calendars.
- Analyze and integrate various metrics within the corporate communications team, share results, recommendations and lessons learned.
- Ensure adherence to branding guidelines, representing your ACSA's brand consistently and professionally, while demonstrating integrity, honesty and respect in all interactions.
- Stay informed with the latest news, tools and industry trends, supporting ACSA and the team in remaining informed.
- Attend assigned industry events, reporting on the outcomes and observations of partnership activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, and/or certificate in Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
- Experience:
- 2+ years of related experience.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, familiarity with digital communication platforms, and content management systems like Mailchimp.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to measure performance, identify trends, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making.
- Effectively collaborates with various stakeholders within ACSA, leveraging communication and cooperation to drive positive outcomes.
- Ability to work independently as a strong and contributing member in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excels at creative thinking and problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail.
Logistics
- This position requires a 40-hour work week.
- This role is eligible for a hybrid work model (ACSA Edmonton office) three months after the start date.
- Some travel, evening and weekend work based on business events such as conferences and workshops.
- This role reports to the Manager of Public Relations and Media.
Salary: $61,700 – 66,405
