Senior Communications & Marketing Manager
This is a full-time, permanent position with an expected start date of June 15, 2026.
Work location: On-site at Distress Centre Calgary, 999 8 Street SW, Suite 500.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00AM-5:00PM primarily in office with some flexibility to work remote or staggered hours.

What to Expect
The Senior Communications & Marketing Manager will lead and elevate our communications function. This is a high-impact role for a strategic thinker who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to execute. You will shape our voice, strengthen our brand, and ensure our story reaches the general public to funders, partners, and internal teams. Reporting to a senior leader, you will also oversee a small and growing communications team.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Communications & Executive Messaging
- Develop and lead an integrated communications and marketing strategy.
- Shape and support CEO messaging across speeches, presentations, and external communications.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on positioning and communications opportunities.
Brand, Public Awareness & Marketing
- Increase awareness of our programs, services, and community impact.
- Maintain a consistent, compelling brand voice across all channels.
- Lead marketing initiatives that drive engagement and support revenue generation.
Content, Campaigns & Annual Reporting
- Oversee and contribute to content creation across digital, print, and social platforms.
- Lead integrated campaigns from concept to evaluation
- Manage the development of the annual report and key organizational publications
Internal Communications & Collaboration
- Partner with People & Culture to deliver effective internal communications.
- Collaborate with program managers to translate complex work into accessible, engaging content.
- Strengthen alignment and communication across the organization.
Team Leadership & Execution
- Supervise and mentor a small communications team (currently one direct report, with future growth).
- Balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery.
- Establish clear workflows, priorities, and standards for high-quality output.
What You Bring
- A degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans.
- Additional credentials such as post-graduate training in public relations, digital marketing, or non-profit management, or professional designations (e.g., APR) are considered assets 7+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related field (non-profit experience is an asset).
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring staff.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Experience supporting fundraising, donor engagement, or multi-channel campaigns.
- Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, adaptable approach and a willingness to dive into the details.
