Position Title:

Communications Intern, Department of Public Lands

Job Description:

This job is designed to provide students with paid professional experience to further their education and training and is academically oriented for the student’s benefit. To qualify, students must be enrolled in an accredited school program related to the type of work they are expected to perform. Positions will terminate upon completion of the internship period. Incumbents may deal with confidential information, which is expected to be maintained as confidential and shared only on a need-to-know basis with city employees and elsewhere when authorized by the intern’s city supervisor.

Under the direction of the Department of Public Lands communications manager, the intern will work alongside the Communications and Community Engagement team to provide communications-related support.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Works in collaboration with thePublic Lands’Communications and Community Engagement team to develop engaging, creative, and informative content

Assistswith graphic design tasks,including signage and outreach materials

Assistsin creating compelling social media campaigns while ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and outreach goals

Attendscommunity engagement eventsto generate content for social media andwebsite

Assistswith other communications tasksas needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, though summer internships may not require concurrent enrollment if student is in good standing with the educational institution.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Must have good organizational and analytical skills.
Must have good computer skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Moderate physical effort, comfortable working conditions, and handling of light weights. Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking may be required. Subject to extended exposure to computer visual display terminals
